PRODUCTS – FAQ

Sign & Board Products

What is Chromadek?

Chromadek is a galvanized metal sheet with one surface coloured in either a frost white, polar white, black or yellow colour. Used extensively in signage and is the most durable, longest lasting method of advertising. Used for long term outdoor signs. It has a much longer lifetime than PVC, with greater strength. Can be cut and shaped to fit custom needs.

Do you offer lamination on your Chromadek signs?

Gloss or Matt Protective over-laminate (extends life of print 12-36 months, environmental conditions will vary results). Recommended where board can be touched, scratched, bumped etc. by people and objects.

How are the printed boards made ?

Our Chromadek signs are made of digitally printed vinyl that is applied onto a Chromadek sheet with the option to laminate the sign. Lamination can be done with either a transparent vinyl or a special lamination liquid. Transparent Vinyl lamination is costlier but with the added benefit that your lamination has a neater finish and will also protect your print from conditions for much longer.

In what sizes do the Chromadek signs come in?

Chromadek sheets are manufactured in a standard width of 1.225m and in unlimited lengths. Our most popular sizes are 2.450 x 1.225m and 1.850 x 0.925m. Our manufacturers supply us with these 2 standard sizes or in rolls of 1.225mm in width and 50m in length. The maximum sized boards we supply are 25m2 and the equivalent to 10m x 2.5m.

What types of vinyl film do you use to applicate on the sheets?

There are three types vinyl available for Chromadek Signs – these are: Polymeric, Monomeric or Cast Vinyl. The purpose and expected lifespan of a sign will dictate which of these are used.

Why use PVC Flex Face Signs instead of Chromadek?

The advantage of a Flex Face Sign when compared to a Chromadek sign is that it is lighter and involves less strain on the frame and the posts, is significantly cheaper to manufacture and/or replace than a Chromadek face. It is generally a tidier sign – and among other things, Chromadek panels have a lot of pop rivets every 1.2 meters, where a Flex Face signs are placed at 3 meters and the join-line is less noticeable.

How cheaper are the PVC Signs vs. Chromadek Signs?

Flex Face signs are banners tensioned over a square-tubed frame and is an estimated 20% cheaper than signage with Chromadek faces.

When is it best to use PVC Flex Face Signs ?

Apart from the material used for the face printing, the specifications for Chromadek and Flex Face are the same. In the case where an outdoor sign has a surface exceeding 8m2 (the equivalent of 4m x 2 m) we usually recommend Flex Face signs as an alternative to a Chromadek face.

What are the disadvantages of using PVC Flex Face Signs?

The only downside with a Flex Face billboard is that it will start to fade about 6 -12 months earlier than Chromadek signs, which only starts to fade after approximately 2.5 – 3 years when exposed to the adverse weather conditions on a permanent basis.

What is spirit flex?

Our Spirit-FLEX™ Tension System is one of the most popular choices for the professional, durable installation of banners, flex-face and other printed flex media including mesh and canvas. A cost-effective, easy-to-use and versatile product, our Spirit-FLEX™ tension banner frames can be manufactured to any size and shape, always giving you an exceptional finish.

What are the advantages of lightboxes ?

The greatest advantage of a light box over any other type of signage is the fact that you get twice the exposure: during the day and then again as soon as the sign lights up at night! Light boxes are more fashionable and exclusive than any traditional advertising boards. At Printex not only do we manufacture outdoor light boxes, we also offer maintenance and restoration on existing Light Boxes.

What type of face materials are used to show the graphic on the light box?

Available sizes for Perspex panels are limited to 3050mm x 2030mm, therefore, if the length of the light box exceeds these dimensions, we will need to use a translucent PVC for the face. To the naked eye there is no difference in quality between Perspex and PVC. Flex Face panels have the advantage of being slightly cheaper than a Perspex face panel but although the material itself is much cheaper, an additional frame must be constructed to tension the Flex face. This process is labour intensive and requires additional raw materials for the construction.

When Perspex is used, we print the design on a translucent vinyl sticker which is laminated and applied onto the Perspex panel whereas with Flex Face we print directly onto the PVC.

What considerations are factored in when calculating the installation price of light boxes?

Installation costs of Light Boxes are dependent on the following factors:

  • Your location
  • How the sign is fixed, for example: against a wall, on a post or other.
  • The height between ground level and the top of the sign

What is PVC Foam (Foamex) boards?

Foamex is a waterproof, lightweight plastic material made of expanded PVC, suitable for printing on it. Foamex is easy to shape, trim and cut

Where can I use these boards?

Signs made of foamex PVC are great, cost effective solution for indoor use. Lightweight and easy to clean foamex signs can be installed on office doors, painted or tiled walls and even glass.

How long does the boards last?

Foamex signs used internally may last from 3 to 5 years. Foamex signs installed outdoors and exposed to extreme weather conditions may display a significant signs of damage to the surface. For external use consider aluminium composite signs.

What is the largest size my Foam PVC Sign can be?

The maximum sheet size is 2400mm x 1200mm – however, we can make any size sign you require by supplying multiple sheets.

How can I install the signage?

Printex is a signage manufacturer and we also install any signage – however a lot of our signage is quite easy to install yourself. We recommend that you search for instructional videos on YouTube that show you how to install the signage yourself. If you can install it yourself you will save a lot of money!

For installation on flat surface such as glass, smooth wall or plastic surface use double sided bond tape to install a foamex sign. For uneven and textured surfaces it is recommended to use screws for mounting.

What are Perspex/Acrylic Signs?

In short, acrylic signs are those made from or with a transparent plastic-like material that mimics glass but is much lighter weight and durable.

Acrylic material is probably most commonly called Plexiglas or Lucite by consumers, though those are actually trademarked product names. (Kind of like how everyone refers to facial tissues as Kleenex even though that’s technically the Kimberly-Clark Corporation’s registered trademark name.

What are the advantages of using Perspex for my signs ?

The benefits of custom acrylic signs are many. They are cost-effective while appearing highly premium, depending on the installation. Acrylic signs can feature printing on a simple rectangular or basic-shaped panel (see our main image above), or they can be laser cut into 3-dimensional letters and numerals. Acrylic signage might also feature a layered design, which can easily incorporate additional materials, too.

Essentially, acrylic signs are one of the most versatile options for nearly any business or professional interior. Whether you need wayfinding office signs, no-nonsense ADA signage, or even POP displays and menu boards, custom acrylic signs deliver high impact results.

Can Perspex signs only be installed indoor?

The short answer? No! Acrylic is such a durable material that it’s often appropriate for exterior signage, too. In fact, some people refer to it as “plastic glass,” and it is routinely used as an alternative window panel material.

Of course, weatherproofing measures may need to be taken to ensure the longevity of some types of acrylic signs outdoors. The material can also be permanently scratched or chipped, so it’s important to carefully consider your sign placements to prevent that kind of damage.

What is Correx?

Correx boards fluted plastic board, also known as corrugated polypropylene. Correx is a lightweight, waterproof plastic material that you can print on. Due to its air channels correx is really easily bendable and flexible material.

Where can I use correx signs?

Correx signs are designed mainly for outdoor use as a temporary sign or short term advertising. They can be often found on construction sites as safety site boards or estate agents property signs.

How do I install CORREX signs?

Correx signs can be installed in many ways – on the fences with cable ties, nailed to the wooden panel or wall, or simply hung from the ceiling with two metal or plastic cords. Very often correx boards are installed back-to-back using cable ties and mounted onto the pole.

How long Does CORREX Signs last?

How do I install ABS Signs?

ABS is a very light weight material and can easily be mounted to walls and fences with using normal double sided tape or cable ties

Can I use it outside ?

Yes, definitely ! ABS signs have been renowned for keeping its quality and shape in an outdoor environment.

What size should I use for my project?

The rule of thumb is to use a thicker material the larger the surface area of the the board becomes.

Also keep in mind what the sign will be used for and where it will be installed

What is ACM Signs?

Dibond is a name of 3mm thick aluminium composite material, made of one internal layer of plastic and two layers of thin aluminium panels on the top and bottom.

Where can I use ACM Signs?

Aluminium composite (dibond) can be installed and used indoor and outdoor. Dibond signs can be installed anywhere inside or outside the building on walls, doors, plastic panels or wood

How do I install ACM Signs?

Small dibond signs (up to A5 size) can be easily installed on flat, smooth surfaces with double-sided industrial tap. For uneven or textured surfaces or larger size dibond signs, it is recommended to use screws for installation. Aluminium composite signs can be also installed on posts with use of clips and channels mounted to the back of the sign.

How long do ACM signs last?

Dibond signs used internally can last up to 10 years. Aluminium composite signs installed outdoors can last around 5 years.

What are the benefits of direct-to-substrate UV printing?

  • Quick drying time: Because the ink dries so quickly on the substrate, the interaction of the chemicals with the substrate is greatly reduced. This means you can use a much wider variety of substrates beyond traditional materials.
  • Sharpness and color: The sharpness and color saturation are improved with this printing method because there is very little chance of ink dots spreading across the substrate, as they dry too quickly. The ink doesn’t absorb into the substrate, either—it stays hardened on its outer surface instead.
  • Scratch resistance: With a scratch-resistant surface, signs that have been printed with our direct-to-substrate UV inkjet printer are easier to handle, transport, and install without having to worry about causing any damage to the print job itself. This also means the signs will keep their “brand-new” appearance for much longer after they have actually been installed.
  • Faster production: The instant curing process that occurs with a direct-to-substrate UV inkjet printer means production is significantly faster than with other methods. Even printing two-sided signs will still be a time-saver.
  • Lower cost: Because additional materials do not need to be purchased, a lot of money is saved in the process. For example, the surface does not need to be protected with the addition of a top laminate or glass covering. These savings can then be passed along to your client, who will undoubtedly be pleased to receive high-quality signage at such a fair price.
  • Greater finish options: Depending on the look a client desires for their signage, we are able to create prints with either matte or high-gloss finishes—or anywhere in between.

How does direct-to-substrate UV printing work?

The direct-to-substrate UV inkjet printer operates by creating a chemical reaction caused by intense ultraviolet light. The printhead contains a UV light source on each end, and the source follows the ink while it’s sprayed out of the jet, instantly curing it and causing it to stick to the substrate. This instant hardness and finished feeling provides a huge range of possibilities for printing, so long as the substrate is flat.

What materials can be printed on ?

The substrate printing process can be used to print directly onto durable, long-lasting surfaces such as, among others, foam core, aluminum/metal, Masonite, MDF and MDO Plywood.

More flexible materials can be printed on as well including Flexible PVC, Corrugated boxes, Magnetics and Metallics, DiBond/E-Panel, Styrene, Plexiglass, Ultra Board (in Black or White), and PVC-Sinatra.

What Are Window Decals?

Window decals are adhesive decals that you can place on any window, glass door or other smooth surface. These semi-permanent decals can be printed at nearly any size and do not need professional assistance for installation. Opaque window decals will last indoors and outdoors for years with proper care, yet are easily removed when you’re ready for a new look.

Window decals work wonderfully for posting store hours or advertising a logo or brand in a window. All window decals can be cut to the exact outline of the design by selecting custom from the shape options. You can also choose to have a border around the outline of your design by selecting custom with border in the shape options. Whatever you choose, your window decal will look great!

Can the banner stand be used outdoors?

We do not recommend that the banner stands be used outdoors as the large banner can catch the wind. However we are aware that many customers do use them this way and take care not to use them when it is windy.

Can you replace the banner on my existing Pull Up Banner stand?

We do not replace the printed banners on existing Pull Up Banner stands – we only supply new complete units. The reasons for this are:

1. The labour cost involved in removing the old banner and installing a new banner into the stand is expensive
2. A number of banner stands will be destroyed when trying to change over the banners
3. A number of banner stands are in very poor condition and not worth re-using
4. Our low cost for the complete new units makes it a better option than changing over banners on existing units

What is the difference between a curved and straight Stretch Media Wall?

It all comes down to your preference. A Straight Stretch Media Wall is a great option for creating a freestanding wall that will act as a backdrop for an event or exhibition, while our Curved Stretch Fabric Media Walls have a curved shape that can be set up concave or convex and offer a more immersive and unique appearance.

Can I use the Media Wall outdoors?

We do not recommend using your Media Wall outdoors as the banner will act like a sail in the wind and it will easily blow over. We suggest using these indoors only. If your style comes with feet, the feet could have sandbags applied and/or the frame could be tied to something for support outdoors, however we cannot guarantee this would work and advise against it.

How can I remove any creases from the polyester fabric?

We recommend that you use a steamer to remove any creases from the polyester fabric. It is also possible to use a warm iron but important that you use an ironing cloth so that the iron does not contact the fabric.

If you have multiple designs for the same size you will still get the lower bulk price, however there is a small multiple artwork charge applied for each additional design to cover our extra set up costs. Can acrylics be hung outside?

This is definitely a no no. Some websites claim that digital acrylic prints can be hung outside. We have tested this and from our experience the acrylics at most last only a year. In harsher environments they would last less.

Can iPhone/mobile phone photos work to create a print on Acrylic?

iPhone photos can definitely work with smaller sizes. Larger sizes would need a software that could increase the D.P.I.

What’s the best way to clean an acrylic photo?

Any non-abrasive works best. However, don’t wipe the back of the acrylic where the image is printed. Wiping gently the front will remove dust.

What is the difference between Acrylic and plexi-glass?

Plexi-glass is a chemical derived from poly-methyl-methaacrylate. Plexi-glass is the same just another brand of acrylic — Like Kleenex is to tissue.

How to clean aluminium prints?

Unlike other print mediums, photos on metal are easy to clean with a dry cloth and an all-purpose cleaner. Although make sure the cleaner is not acidic in any way or it might damage the vibrancy of the photos on it.

Can aluminium prints be hung outside?

Well, yes in one way. Since they are UV-resistant, you can hang them outdoors on areas like patio or porch but no photo can stay UV-resistant forever so the colours might fade in a few years if it is kept constantly under direct sunlight.

How Can I Fix Foamex

Due to its composition, Foamex board can be screwed to walls, post mounted or hung in a frame. It can also be attached to trade show stands with Velcro or double sided tape.

Wood Print? What Exactly is a Photo Printed on Wood?

We get asked this question all of the time! Our answer is very simple, we take your digital pictures and, using our state of the art printers, print them directly on sustainable wood. We do not use white ink in our printing which allows the natural beauty of the wood grain to show through the print, particularly in the white and lighter colours within a picture.

We use plywood for the majority of our prints.  Plywood is a great material for printing because every print is unique. No two sheets of plywood have the same grain signature, so every print becomes a unique piece of art.

Our wood prints differ from other methods as we do not print the picture on paper first and then transfer the picture to the wood surface.

How do I know if my artwork will look good printed on wood?Another good question. We offer two finishes on the majority of our wood prints, natural grain and HD White.  It is important to get the finish right as the finish does affect the final outcome.

When selecting which finish to choose, you should consider the following:

Natural grain – when this finish is selected, the natural lines of the wood grain (including any imperfections) in the wood will show through, adding a level of warmth, depth and beauty to the wood print. You should also consider that:

  • We do not print with white ink, so any area in your picture that is white will be replaced by the natural colour of the wood.
  • Lighter colours will be more transparent and show more grain.
  • Darker colours like black and blues will print more opaque, show less wood grain and will darken.
  • Natural imperfections in the wood will be visible, wood is a natural product (please see natural imperfections below).

What resolution do you recommend per size of print?

The bigger the file size the better! Try to send us original photos straight from your camera or phone, downloads from Facebook or Instagram tend to be low quality. We like to have all files to be 150 dpi (dots per inch) when scaled to the size you are ordering, but we can use files at 75 dpi (anything lower will look pixelated). One of our team will review  the resolution of your pictures before printing and let you know if there are any issues.

How do I take care of a wood print?

Taking care of a wood print is as easy as taking care of any other piece of fine art. Make sure to use only a damp, 100% cotton or microfiber cloth when wiping off your print. Do not get it wet, scratch, or wipe the front with abrasive materials. Do not expose the piece to fire or any other damaging substance.

What is the double-sided option on page one, and what is it typically used for?

Typically, important information such as terms and conditions, instructions, and “fine print” content is printed on the back of the form for the customer to read without taking up all of the space on the front of the form. The content on the back should be a very light colour of approximately 50% opacity to not show through on the front side.

Can custom numbering be positioned anywhere on the page?

Numbering can be placed anywhere on the form but is usually positioned in an upper or lower corner. This can be indicated with a box or a prefix, such as “Invoice:” or simply left blank.

It is recommended to position the numbering a minimum of 1” away from the edge of the page.

The desired location for the numbering can be indicated by adding an overprint layer in Adobe Illustrator or InDesign to show where the numbering should go. However, it needs to be done carefully to ensure the overprint element is set up correctly.

If no specific location is indicated, the numbering will be positioned in the best available location with sufficient space (generally in the upper right corner).

What is the purpose of a name badge?
By wearing name tags, or other identification, newer employees and other team members in the company are more apt to recognize each other. Name badges also provide accountability for all of your employees.
What should be on a name badge?
When preparing a name tag, think through the purpose of the tag… which is of course to identify yourself. Think twice about the need to provide any more information beyond these basics.

I want to order 20 badges, do I have to design every badge individually?

No. To keeps things simple, we only require you to design the first badge for each design. Once this first badge has been designed additional names and/or job titles can be added in the next step. Once your order has been processed, a graphic designer will look over your design and ensure that any long names fit on the badge and that the overall design is aligned correctly. We recommend using an average sized name as an example when designing your badge. If they use the longest name, all are imported in that same smaller font size.

Do I have a choice of fittings for my name badges?

All of our name badges come with a choice of two fittings: Pin or Magnet

How long will the print on the flags last?

All of our polyester flags are printed using the dye sublimation process which provides high quality print and vibrant colours.

When used internally (i.e. out of the sun and weather) these flags will last indefinitely.
When used outdoors the dye sublimated polyester flags will fade over time – and the amount of fading will depend on the amount of UV they are exposed to. As an indication we would expect the flags to last 6 – 12 months before fading when they are left outside all the time – but this could vary dramatically depending on the conditions they are exposed to.

What does single sided mirror reverse print mean?

The artwork is printed on one side of the flag so you see the correct image and colour on that side. The other side of the flag will display the mirror image of the artwork and the colour will have less vibrancy (as the printed image has bled through from the other side of the flag).

How are the double sided flags printed?

We print them on our SignWeave™ Block Out Polyester Material and sew them together (back to back) to get a high quality satin printed finish that can be read correctly from both sides

The printed walls have velcro sewn along the top on one side – to allow it to attach to velcro sewn onto the inside of the Gazebo canopy skirt. This means that a single sided print is not reversible so it is important to select whether you want the print facing the inside or outside.

How do I attach the back wall to the Pop Up Gazebo?

The full back and side walls come with a strip of HOOK Velcro across the top and with Velcro loops down each side. The HOOK velcro strip at the top of the wall is attached to the LOOP Velcro on the valance of the canopy (the skirt of the roof) – and the velcro loops are attached around the vertical poles of the frame.

Digital & Large Format Products

Will your stickers or decals ruin or fade the paint on my car?

No, at least not that we have seen. The adhesive on the back of our stickers and decals are designed for application to cars and windows for up to five years. Depending on your car’s finish, at the end of five years you should not notice any fading of color.

Can I take my stickers/decals off and put them back on?

Typically, it’s not a good idea. Depending on shape it may be okay, but we cannot guarantee the life of the sticker or decal after removal. Some shapes, like stars, seals, tennis rackets, and so on, should not be removed unless it’s intended for disposal. Some shapes that might be okay for removal and replacement might include: circles, squares etc. In general, most decals will not be able to be reused or reapplied.

What is the lifespan of your decals?

The lifespan of any of our products is as short or long as the products’ caregiver allows. If someone designs a decal and places it on their bedroom wall as decoration, it will last a whole lot longer than if someone actually put it on their car. The average lifespan of our decals is up to 5 years based on elemental exposure, and we have had many last even longer. You can expect at least 3 years for outdoor use before shrinkage or fading starts to occur.

How is it Made?

There are two types of reflective adhesive vinyl material:

Retroflective – contains small glass beads that reflect light

Prismatic – is layered with very small prisms that reflect light

Reflective material is manufactured to different compliances; while some may be suitable for flat surfaces, such as a traffic sign or a side door law enforcement shield, they may not be suitable for 3 dimensional applications. Materials rated at higher levels of compliance may be required to bend around curves and corners.

How is it Used?

The use of reflective material on most emergency vehicles is regulated and/or mandated. Ambulances, fire vehicles, police cruisers, and other first responders use reflective vinyl in varying degrees. Reflectives are used on signage; from stop signs to wayfinders they light the way. But this shiny material isn’t limited to government agencies.

Why does it not reflect in the day?

Reflective vinyl is not self luminescent. Its properties aren’t apparent in normal daylight conditions. It’s specifically designed to be visible at night when stricken with artificial light such as that from motor vehicle headlights. This reflective property is what makes road signs legible after dark without the cost of electric illumination.  Because of this, there is sometimes a color shift that occurs when viewing reflective vinyl in different settings

What is a self-adhesive vinyl?
Self-adhesive vinyl is a flexible material you can print your custom graphics on. Widely used in signage in printing industry self-adhesive vinyl stickers are a main printed product used for car wraps, signage applications or window graphics. Vinyl stickers are very often sold with a matt or gloss laminate that protects the graphics against UV light, tear or damages.

Where I can use a self-adhesive sticker?
You can use your vinyl sticker or any flat, smooth surface indoor or outdoor. They can be applied on glass or acrylic, plastic surfaces, metal or aluminium surfaces or even to cover another vinyl sticker. Before buying your vinyl stickers make sure you have selected sticker with the right level of stickiness.

What are the types of self-adhesive vinyl stickers?
There are various types of self-adhesive vinyl stickers, depending on their durability, lifetime and purpose, your graphics can be printed on removable vinyl that you can easily take of the surface, normal tack vinyl for standard applications and high-tack vinyl for uneven surfaces and painted walls or wood.

How long does the self-adhesive vinyl last?
A self-adhesive vinyl sticker can last from 1 to up to 12 years. The lowest grade of monomeric vinyl can last somewhere between 8-12 months without any visible shrinking or melting. Standard polymeric vinyl has a lifespan of 2-5 years – this is our most commonly used material. Cast vinyl can last as long as up to 12 years if maintained properly.

How to apply self-adhesive vinyl sticker?
To apply a vinyl sticker on the flat surface simply remove the backing paper and spray the sticky back with water. Apply it carefully on the flat surface, clean surface. Use your bank card to slowly push all the water and air out by pressing it down and moving left to right over the surface of the sticker with medium pressure all the way down. In extreme cases, you can use a pin to puncture the air bubble and remove the excess of water from the underneath of vinyl.

Who can you design sticker for me?
Our creative designers at Printex are more than happy to do so. You will be able to see the final preview with a proof of your artwork and approve it before any production process will commence. Please keep in mind that once approved artwork cannot be changed anymore. Please make sure the artwork and changes you’re approving are correct.

Can I choose the finishing for my sticker?

Yes, standard finishing is cutting into squares or rectangles. Die-cut and kiss-cut require an additional fee and artwork supplied as vector.

Can I customize the size of my sticker?

Yes, there is no standard size for stickers.

Can the stickers be used internally or externally?

Yes, sticker orientation is customizable, we have a range of stickers to suit both internal and external application. Please contact us for enquiries.

How long does the stickers last?

Applied indoors to a clean glass surface, frosted window film can last for several years before peeling and fraying along the edges. The application is really quick since it requires no adhesives. The removal process is even quicker – just peel off the etched window decals and discard!

How do we install the floor graphics?

Installation:

Sweep the application surface to remove contaminants (dust, dirt, water etc.) & ensure it is completely dry.

If the surface is oily, please power wash with commercial degreaser.

Peel off the release liner, lay the vinyl flat on the surface and apply pressure over the complete surface area of the vinyl with a J-roller or hard rubber roller, rolling moving from the centre to the edge.

Make sure all edges of the film have completely adhered to the surface.

Removal:

Use a putty knife (or blade) to peel up a corner, then pull the vinyl away from the surface at an angle less than 45 degrees.

No residue remains on the surface with peel-off removal.

If the graphics are installed on asphalt or other rough surfaces in locations with heavy vehicle traffic, the vinyl could be difficult to remove and may require power washing at a low angle to remove worn-in graphics

Which part of my design will glow in the dark?

The vinyl itself is the part of the sticker that will glow. If you print black or a very dark colour onto sections of the sticker, the dark ink will completely block the glow in the dark effect for that area. If you print a very light colour then it will only block the glow in the dark effect slightly, so yellow (for example) would still glow in the dark, but not quite as strongly as a plain (blank) area.

In short, the darker the colour you print onto the glow in the dark vinyl, the less glow in the dark that colour will appear. Blank areas with no print at all will glow the strongest, light colours glow slightly less and dark colours glow very little or not at all.

How are the glow in the dark stickers supplied?

All of our glow in the dark stickers are supplied in an easy-to-peel sheet format with multiple stickers on each sheet. The sheets are usually A4 in size but this can vary depending on the size of sticker chosen and the quantity ordered. Stickers larger than A3 will be supplied individually.
For what can I use the stickers for ?
  • Display emergency information in low light scenarios / emergencies
  • Can be used for directional purposes – e.g  fire exit advice / information
  • Can be used as a guide or informative sticker in low light environments when there is a power cut etc.
  • Room or Office Decor Purposes

All of our custom domed stickers are supplied in an easy-to-peel sheet format with multiple stickers on each sheet. The sheets are usually A4 in size but this can vary depending on the size of sticker chosen and the quantity ordered.

Is the doming resin scratch-proof?

All of our domed stickers are domed with a scratch-resistant epoxy resin. Not only is the resin coating scratch-proof, but it also provides a high quality look to all of your stickers.

What is the minimum and maximum size for a domed sticker?

Minimum size: 15 x 15mm
Maximum size: 40 x 80mm
Radius corners: Required (minimum 1mm)

What shapes can I choose from?

Our domed stickers are available in almost any shape you can think of. On our website you can choose from: Rectangle, Square, Circle and Oval. Once you have chosen your shape you will have full control of the width, height and corner radius (if applicable) to tailor it to your requirements.

What Are Mesh Banners?

Unlike vinyl banners (which require wind slits cut into the vinyl if it is to be used outdoors), the weave or interlaced fabric of a mesh banner is breathable; it will actually allow air to pass through the mesh weave. This makes mesh banner printing ideal for installations in any outdoor location, even if it is quite windy. And, since mesh won’t tear like vinyl does, they generally last much longer.

Even though the criss-crossed weave can make the mesh slightly transparent, fully color mesh banner printing with graphics, images and text is still possible. As well, mesh banners can also be finished with hemming and grommets similar to vinyl banners. With today’s capabilities for large format graphics printing, you can now find mesh banners commonly used as fence wraps for sporting events and on construction site fencing.

What is the difference between mesh and standard PVC banners?

Mesh Banners vs Vinyl Banners

Whether you should custom print your advertising on mesh or vinyl will really depend upon several things. These may include where and how your banner will be located or installed, how long it will be displayed, and whether or not you need the image to show on both sides of the banner.

Mesh banner wind load is higher than that of vinyl banners, which makes mesh banners ideal for outdoor installations such as:

  • Construction mesh banners
  • Builders mesh banners
  • Fencing mesh banners
  • Hanging mesh banners
  • Over the street mesh banners
  • Scaffolding mesh banners

Mesh banners are typically composed of 70% vinyl and 30% mesh. This makes them lightweight, durable, and they generally outlast vinyl if kept clean and properly stored. A longer life span also means that mesh banners can also be repurposed more often than vinyl.

While printing on vinyl can be less expensive than printing mesh banners, vinyl is more susceptible to being torn or damaged in high winds or severe weather locations.

Will Banner Hems Help Protect My Banners?

Quality Vinyl Banners require hemming to reinforce the edges of the banner. Hems provide the additional strength to your vinyl banner sign at critical points – around the edges and on every corner there grommets are set. It is twice as hard to pull apart hemmed banner as a simple cutout sign without any hems. All Mesh banners made at Printex include hems on all 4 sides.

Do the banners have a matte or gloss finish?

Our banner material is white and has a matte finish. The ink has a satin finish so any printed areas of the banner will have this finish.

Do I need a lay flat banner?

Both simple and complicated to explain is layflat printing. If you are not sure whether you need printed layflat pvc, you probably don’t. It does what its named after, lies flat and the edges don’t curl. This non curl layflat media is part of the pvc family making it both strong and durable. Generally having a weight of 300 to 510gsm. Prints come out very nicely and this great media is mainly used for pull up banners, x-banners and hanging banners(the ones with an extrusion on the top and bottom).

Do you supply double sided banners?

We only manufacture single sided banners (banners with printing on one side). The reverse side is black.

How accurate will the size of my Vinyl Banner be?

Due to the heat produced during our Latex printing process, the final banner size can vary up to 1% from what is ordered.

As such, we don’t advise Vinyl Banners to be printed with measurements on them as these will not be 100% accurate, unfortunately.

Our Vinyl Banners are also not recommended if you need to fit them into an existing frame or use specific eyelet locations, as the size may be slightly out due to the heating process.

Do the banners have a matte or gloss finish?

Our banner material is white and has a matte finish. The ink has a satin finish so any printed areas of the banner will have this finish.

I have multiple designs, are there extra setup fees?

Yes, our price includes the set up cost for 1 design only. If you have multiple designs for the same size you will still get the lower bulk price, however there is a small multiple artwork charge applied for each additional design to cover our extra set up costs. Simply enter the total number of signs required and then the total number of designs into the pricing calculator above – and it will work out an accurate price for you.

Do you print double sided Fabric Banners?

We are sorry but we do not manufacture double sided Fabric Banners. It is possible to use 2 of the Premium Fabric Banners back to back, although there could be some bleed through of colour from one banner to the other (as this material is not a blockout material).

How big can you make a Fabric Banner?

The maximum size we can manufacture in one piece is 3000mm H x 10,000mm W

How long will my Fabric Banner last?

If your Fabric Banner is used indoors, it will last for years! Any fabric outdoors will deteriorate based on how much UV exposure it receives. We estimate at least 6 months for full time outdoor use.

How can I remove any creases from the polyester fabric?

We recommend that you use a steamer to remove any creases from the polyester fabric. It is also possible to use a warm iron but important that you use an ironing cloth so that the iron does not contact the fabric.

Will the stainless steel eyelets rip out of the Fabric Banner?

The Fabric Banners are sewn around the perimeter with 3 layers of the material to provide extra strength for the eyelets. The eyelets should not rip through these 3 layers when the banners are used in normal weather conditions. It should be noted that no banners should be left outdoors during extreme weather conditions.

Can Contra Vision be applied to the inside of a window?

Yes. we have perforated and non-perforated products for internal application.

How does contravision work?

If you are standing outside the window it appears white and blocks the view into buildings during the daytime. This is because the eye is drawn to the white material which reflects more light than passes through window from the darker interior.

Why is the one side of the film black?

The reverse side of the perforated film is typically coloured black. This gives the window a tinted look from inside and maintains excellent see-through: black absorbs most light rather than reflecting it, so the daylight coming from outside is dominating.

Is it easy to apply to my windows?

Our perforated films are very easy to apply to windows because air bubbles do not get trapped underneath. Instructions and an applicator tool are provided.

Where should I display my Sandwich board?

A-boards are either positioned outside your shopfront or main entrance, or at a place where there is a high footfall – such as a main shopping street or busy junction.

The latter is especially important for businesses in industrial or off-the-beaten-track locations because fewer people are passing by.

Do you need permission to put up a sign?

If you’re planning on placing an Sandwich board next to the main road, you should check with your local council authority regarding the rules – as it’s likely you’ll need permission to do so.

Are the boards waterproof?

Yes, the lightweight aluminium sandwich boards are all weatherproof. A plastic film over the front of your printed artwork protects your message from the elements.

What should I include on my Boards design?

Boards are designed to grab attention and get one clear message across. As a result, they need to be designed in a way that does this job effectively.

When you’re designing your sandwich board artwork, try to use:

  • Clear fonts and short sentences – can people read and understand your message?
  • Bright and simple imagery – colourful, impactful graphics don’t get in the way of your text
  • Offbeat messages – jokes or poems can attract attention – passers-by may even post pictures online
